Germany's Opportunity Card or Chance Card

Want to relocate to Germany but haven't found a job yet? There is a solution!

As of 1 June, it will become significantly easier to obtain a visa for the purpose of finding a job. The Chancenkarte facilitates access to the German labour market without the need to have a Joboffer in advance. The requirements for obtaining it are more than affordable!

Advantages of the Chancenkarte:
✔️ Possibility to stay in Germany for up to 12 months to look for a job or recognise education.
✔️ Permission to work up to 20 hours per week or to take a trial job for up to two weeks (unlimited).
✔️ In case of a full-time job offer, the visa is converted into a working residence permit without leaving Germany.
✔️ Possibility of a one-time extension of the opportunity card for another year.
In order to qualify for the Chancenkarte, it is necessary to provide funds for living in Germany, which amounts to 12,324 euros for a year. The funds must be in a blocked account. Alternatively, a financial guarantee can be arranged. It is also worth drafting a letter of motivation now.

There are no additional requirements for qualified specialists (Fachkräfte) with a recognised diploma. If your university and diploma are recognised in anabin, you will simply receive a visa. You can read about the new procedure for recognising the equivalence of a diploma here. The same system should apply to holders of specialised secondary education, but the register has not yet been launched.
